In Magpies, we have had a real mystery on our hands. First, Argus left us some green crystals to look after in Magpies. What we didn't know, was that they belonged in Dreamland, to the Little Folk, who have been trying to get them back. The Little Folk have used our Time Machine to go back in time, to stop Argus from ever stealing the crystals in the first place! We have left them a letter in the time machine, to see if it worked! We will see on Monday if they have!
We have had lots of fun meeting a musician today. She is called Susannah and will be working with us next year. Here are some photos from our dress rehearsal. We hope you enjoyed our show, especially the incredible Year 3 Locust dance. Today, Magpies had a visit from 2 professional musicians. We worked in 2 groups. One group looked at "pulse" we kept a beat by clapping and marching. We learnt how to conduct music. The other group, made a song with the same melody and rhythm as the "Bare Necessities". At the end, we swapped roles and performed our song. These are our lyrics: Look for the frog in the rain forest, The colourful toucan, The black panther, he is not the king. I mean the big mossy tree, The snakes are slithering, All these things you'll find in the jungle! We had a very exciting day today because David came in and taught us Samba drumming. It was lots of fun and cool to learn different techniques on a range of drums. We liked the different sounds the drums made. It was extremely noisy! We had to learn various parts on the drums. We all had a go on more than one drum. We were so good that we performed in front of the school. What do you think about our performance? On Thursday, Magpies had a trip to Bristol Zoo. I won't write too much as the pictures, taken by the children, speak for themselves.
At the end of the day, it was agreed by all of the adults that the children had behaved brilliantly and we had all had an amazing day. The celebrations started early in Magpies! We had a wonderful tea party with the rest of the school. We have talked about Prince Harry and Meghan getting married and are excited to see what happens tomorrow. ,We had such a jam packed day on Thursday! Mr Dixon, from Tewkesbury Historical Society, came to talk to us. He helped us to be time travellers, looking at how Tewkesbury has changed. In the afternoon, we walked to Tewkesbury to look at the things Mr Dixon had told us. The children showed they had listened well in the morning and, between them, spotted all of the things Mr Dixon had told us about! It has really helped us to see Tewkesbury in a different way. Some of our pictures are below; can your Magpie tell you the story behind the picture? We finished our walk with a rest in Victoria Gardens. We looked at the River and thought about the human and physical features that we could see. This will help us later in the term when we compare the River Avon and the River Amazon.
I hope now you can see why your Magpie was so exhausted when you picked them up! This week we have been learning about all sorts of things.
We were learning how to say names of pets in French. For example, cat = un chat and dog = un chien. See if your Magpie can remember any more of these. By Clara & Molly Yesterday, we watched Newsround then decided what we thought of each news story by putting emojis next to each news article to show what we thought of each one :-)! By Noah & Logan In Science, we were naming different parts of plants because this term we are looking at Animals and Plants. Madi, Corina & Tyler |
