Yesterday, we did Dragon's Den. Mrs Bennion, Mr Brixey, Mr Nolan and Mrs Amos (<-a.k.a. Mrs Parr) came to watch us present our inventions. This was the end of all of our work on Robots; we have designed and made a prototype invention and written phenomenal persuasive speeches.
In the morning, the groups worked to combine their speeches. They then presented them to the "Dragons" in the afternoon. Every grown up involved was impressed with the children. Everyone contributed and their speeches and responses to the questions the Dragons asked were incredible. Well Done Magpies!

We had a great afternoon. We had a challenge to build a bridge for Iron Man to get to Space-Bat-Angel-Dragon in Australia.
Mrs Dorehill had lots of criteria that we had to meet, including holding a full water bottle. Mrs Parr then set us a further challenge of her larger, heavier water bottle. You can see from the photos that we had lots of fun! On Wednesday afternoon, Dave and Shaun from Cheltenham Science Group came to visit us. We started with catapults; we had to knock over cups using a polystyrene ball. The cups were stacked in a pyramid shape. Next, we explored forces using a bat and a ball. We watched Dave heat a can, he put this into a bucket of water and it crunched up (imploded). Our next task was to blow up a balloon. This was taped to a straw which was attached to some string. We were able to move the straw up the string using the air from the balloon. We all had lots of fun!
We had a very exciting start to Science week as Jungle Jonathan came to visit. He showed use some of his favourite animals during assembly.
Spinderella is a pink toe tarantula. She has very sticky legs and climbed up the gym equipment in the hall! Next, Jonathan showed us Goldie , who is a Taiwanese Beauty Snake. Some of the children got to hold Goldie and he licked them with his tongue. Finally, Mrs Bennion held Goldie. Goldie liked Mrs Bennion's hair! As we have homophones for spellings again this week here are some sentences to help you to learn them...
There was a strong scent coming from the flowers. I have sent the letter in the post. The wicked queen was extremely vain. The vein in my hand is full of blood. I rode my bicycle to school. The road into Tewkesbury has lots of traffic lights. The car is made of steel. I steal a piece of chocolate from my sister. My trousers come up to my waist. At school we do not waste things, we recycle. |
