We have had another busy and exciting week in Magpies. Over the last few weeks we have been learning about letters and how you write one. This week the children wrote their own letters from one Roman god to another explaining what had happened on Earth during Boudicca's rebellion. The children did a fantastic job using the grammatical features we have been learning about, such as relative clauses (Boudicca, who...), fronted adverbials (Loudly, she roared) and expanded noun phrases (Boudicca carried a heavy sword with a sharp gleaming blade). We have also been solving problems involving multiplication. We used cubes to represent the problem. For example, a jar had 4 cookies in and a basket has 3 times as many. How many cookies are in the basket? We have also started tiling our Roman mosaics in art. When we designed our mosaics, we chose objects that Roman children would use in their daily life. Here we are arranging our tiles to follow the curves of our design and gluing them. We're looking forward to combining our mosaics to make a large wall mosaic which will hang in the school foyer!

We were lucky enough to have a day with The Song Writing Charity on Monday writing, performing and recording our own song based on this year's Anti Bullying Week theme: 'Power for Good'.
Here's what we did on the day! You can listen to our fantastic song here: https://soundcloud.com/the-songwriting-charity/queen-margaret-dealing-with-your-feelings |
